The Sherman brothers and Cameron Macintosh fuse P. L. Travers’ book and the Disney film for a gloriously chim-chim-cheery musical. Mary Poppins is the super nanny who descends to help the dysfunctional Banks family. With a spoonful of sugar and a touch of magic, she and sidekick Bert whisk the children away on jolly holidays and magical adventures. Join them with tickets to see Mary Poppins and her bag full of tricks live on stage.

The multi award-winning production features dazzling choreography to match an incredible score. Favourite tracks from the film like ‘Step in Time’, ‘Feed the Birds’ and ‘Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious’ are delightfully played out on stage. But there’s also plenty of new music from George Stiles and Anthony Drewe, such as the charming ‘Practically Perfect’.

The musical differs slightly from the beloved Julie Andrews movie, with some characters taking on deeper roles. The talented cast have brilliantly brought depth to the likes of George Banks and introduced new characters. Cameron Macintosh and Oscar-winning screenwriter and Downton Abbey Creator, Julian Fellowes, have reworked the story for the show. It’s fresh and funny but still as enchanting as the classic Mary Poppins we know and love.

Mary Poppins first opened in the West End in 2004, with direction by Richard Eyre and choreography by Matthew Bourne and Stephen Mear. It’s the first Disney musical to premiere in the UK, scooping up two Olivier Awards as it opened. The show is now a firm favourite worldwide, particularly on Broadway where it ran for over six years. After travelling across the globe and playing before 11 million people, Mary Poppins the musical returns home to London, so make sure to get your tickets soon!

About

Sitting just north of Leicester Square in the City of Westminster lies a testament to modern stage productions - the Prince Edward Theatre. Named after the Prince of Wales/Duke of Windsor, it opened in 1930 with a performance of 'Rio Rita'. The venue has spent time as a dance, cabaret hall and a cinerama, before reverting back into theatrical use in the 1970's with the world premiere of ‘Evita’. The theatre has continued to gain reputation for hosting some of the biggest West End productions, including ‘Crazy for You’, ‘Miss Saigon’, ‘Mary Poppins’ and the premier of ‘Mamma Mia!’ It currently houses Disney’s ‘Aladdin’. While its programme is undoubtedly full of spectacular productions, the building itself is reason enough to visit the Prince Edward. Its exterior mimics an Italian palace and its interior sports art deco designs, making it an architectural feast for the eyes and adding to the grandeur of the overall theatre experience. The venue underwent refurbishments during the 1990’s, but retained its authentic charm complemented by modern day facilities.
